Poll finds Thrive has majority support

A new poll from Data for Progress shows that Thrive Montgomery 2050 enjoys 55% support from residents who are likely Democratic voters in Montgomery County, with only 21% in opposition. The largest margins of support come from Black or African American residents (73%), people under 45 (62%), and renters (61%).

The question asked was: “The County Council is currently considering Thrive Montgomery 2050, an update to the county's master plan that provides direction for decisions about land use, transportation, and related issues. It would also open up some single-family neighborhoods to a mix of housing types, such as duplexes and triplexes, but would not change zoning or other detailed land use regulations.”

We hope this poll will move the County Council towards taking action on the plan prior to the end of the Council term, and embracing Thrive’s vision of a range of housing options.
